When President Trump condemned Barack Obama’s 2015 JCPOA as a “horrible” deal that handed Iran $150 billion, he promised his own agreement would be different.

Now, the numbers tell a shocking story: Trump’s deal may deliver many times more financial benefit to Tehran than Obama’s ever did.
Trump Just Make Iran Great Again!
The JCPOA provided roughly $100โ150 billion** in sanctions relief by unfreezing Iran’s own foreign reservesโessentially returning Iran’s money. Obama also settled a separate judicial case by returning **$1.7 billion in frozen arms-sale proceeds.
However, in the worst “Art of the Steal” Trump’s 2026 Memorandum of Understanding sent a humongous shockwave throughout America, and the rest of the world into oblivion.
The agreement’s text explicitly commits the U.S. and regional partners to creating a “comprehensive plan” ensuring financing of at least $300 billion for Iran’s “rehabilitation and economic development”.
The irony is staggering: Trump spent years berating Obama
While Trump insists the U.S. isn’t “putting up ten cents”, the fund would be financed by Gulf allies and private investment. More than half that sum has already been committed.Vice President JD Vance confirmed Iranians “could have access” to the $300 billion fund if they comply. Additionally, the deal unlocks **$25 billion in frozen Iranian assets** through cash transfers and regional cooperation.
In reality President Barack Obama returned $1.7 billion, yet now stands to provide Iran with many times more funds. From a financial perspective, Trump’s “America First” negotiator has delivered Tehran a $300 billion package that dwarfs Barack Obama’s JCPO deal.
