How Trump Blindly Handed Iran US$300 Billions
WASHINGTON & TEHRAN โ President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian have remotely signed a 14-point memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at ending months of hostilities. The agreement, finalized on Wednesday, establishes a 60-day negotiating window for a final deal.
Trump’s Gold Spoon Provisions for Iran
The U.S. commits to beginning the removal of its naval blockade immediately, with full completion within 30 days. Washington will also terminate all sanctionsโincluding UN Security Council resolutions and unilateral U.S. measuresโon an agreed schedule, issue waivers for Iranian oil exports, and work with regional partners on a reconstruction plan worth at least $300 billion.
Iran, in turn, commits to facilitating safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz with no charges for 60 days. It also โreaffirms that it shall not procure or develop nuclear weaponsโโa position Tehran has maintained for years.
Both sides agree to an immediate and permanent halt to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.
Iran Takes Victory Lap Against Trump
Iran has declared the MOU a diplomatic victory. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf called it โproof of Americaโs failureโ, while officials emphasize that the Strait โwill never return to previous conditionsโ and that Iran will charge fees for services there.
U.S. officials have offered a more measured assessment. Vice President JD Vance said the agreement could โfundamentally transform the Middle East for the next 50 yearsโ.
Congress has expressed frustration over lack of transparency. Sen. Bill Cassidy wrote on X: โBefore the war, the strait was open, Iran was being crushed by sanctions, and 13 service members were still alive. Now, 13 Americans are dead, families have paid billions at the pump, sanctions will be lifted, and the bombing has stoppedโ. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen called it a โfull capitulationโ.
Israel has reacted with alarm. The agreement accomplishes none of Israelโs stated war aims, analysts say. Former national security adviser Yaakov Amidror called it โa bad agreement in which the Americans are paying with cash, and got, at the maximum, a letter of intentโ.
Iran’s Stock Market Surges, US Dollar Dives
Iranโs stock exchange broke through 5 million points for the first time, capping one of the strongest rallies in its history. The rial strengthened roughly 13% against the dollar following the deal.
Iran Gives ZERO; Key Unresolved Issues
Iranโs missile program remains off the table. The fate of Iranโs enriched uranium stockpileโdilution is โone possible optionโโand restrictions on proxy funding have been deferred to final negotiations.
The 60-day clock has begun. Whether these talks will succeed where three months of war failed remains an open question.
